Meet Michael
Michael Hyman is a former cook turned stay-at-home dad who annoys his two daughters by incessantly taking their photos. He grew up in Philly, moved to Washington DC, then New York City and ended up in Bethesda, Maryland. His obsession with cameras started when his daughter was born, worsened when he got his first DSLR and became downright manic when he got an iPhone.
He photographs everything - the good, the bad and the ugly - which often means taking photographs of his kids’ tears before asking why they are crying, as his wife is quick to note. He’ll stop to photograph junk on the side of the road, a 1960’s garage door handle, or tree clippings sticking out of a trash can, but he is partial to photographing his friends and strangers in everyday situations.
Michael genuinely enjoys capturing people at different events, irrespective of the occasion. His preferred approach is often documentary-style, distinguishing himself with his adept ability to connect with individuals and create a comfortable atmosphere in front of the camera.
